Euro Hostel’s location in central Glasgow is one of its greatest assets. Located across the street from Jury’s Inn and situated super close to attractions such as the Riverside Museum and the SSE Hydro, you will have access to the Glasgow’s cultural and entertainment hubs. Lidl is located less than a minutes walk away for preparing food in the restaurant grade kitchen, along with other restaurants and food options. Additionally, the Euro Hostel’s proximity to public transportation makes exploring Glasgow and its surrounding areas very easy. I chose to walk everywhere and still got to see a lot! Whether you want to visit museums or clubs, Euro Hostel serves as an ideal starting point for your adventures.
Accommodation
As soon as you step into Euro Hostel, you will find yourself in what looks like a spacious hotel lobby and presented with numerous accommodation options. From shared dormitories to private rooms, Euro Hostel Glasgow caters to travelers of all preferences and budgets. The dormitories are clean and well-maintained, with sturdy bunk beds and standard trunk storage space for belongings (bring a lock). Comfortable, clean bedding ensures a restful night’s sleep, while en-suite bathrooms provide convenience and privacy.
For those solo travelers and those that prefer a little more privacy, I can recommend Euro Hostel’s private rooms equipped with en-suite facilities. The walls and mattress are a little thin, but otherwise the wallprovide a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the dormitories, allowing you to unwind in peace after a day of exploring. While the rooms are not the biggest in size, they are furnished with all the necessities for a comfortable stay, including a large smart tv, desk, heater, full sized bed.
Facilities
Euro Hostel’s facilities are designed to enhance your experience and foster a sense of community. The communal lounge is an area where travelers can get to know each other, eat your food, or plan their next adventures. At Euro Hostel Glasgow, this area is adjacent to the kichen and has a seating area with a TV, an arcade machine (wasn’t working when I was there), table football, and a great view overlooking the street below.
Additionally, Euro Hostel Glasgow features a fully-equipped kitchen where guests can prepare their meals, saving both time and money during their stay. The LIDL and other grocery stores are within a walking distance. The availability of cooking facilities works especially well for budget-conscious travelers looking to minimize dining expenses. However, it’s worth noting that the kitchen can get crowded during peak hours. Also the kitchen is not open 24hrs and closes at 10:30pm.
Euro Hostel Glasgow also features a downstairs bar that is open to both hostel guests and the public. This bar offers an huge selection of beverages at very affordable prices, providing the perfect setting for guests to unwind and socialize after a day exploring Glasgow. From locally brewed beers to signature cocktails, there’s something to suit everyone. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff further enhance the bar experience, making it a popular spot for both locals and travelers.
Staff
The staff at Euro Hostel Glasgow, for the most part, were professional and accommodatingn from the moment of check-in until the time I left. Front desk staff was able to assist with any requests and able to answer all my questions. Whether offering insider tips on local attractions or arranging transportation, the staff will go above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay for you.
Cleanliness
One of Euro Hostel Glasgow’s best qualities is its commitment to cleanliness and hygiene. The common areas, dormitories, and bathrooms are regularly cleaned and well-maintained, creating a comfortable environment for guests to relax and unwind. However, I did notice some occasional lapses in cleanliness during peak periods when the hostel was at its busiest, but hese instances were swiftly addressed by the staff, ensuring that cleanliness standards are upheld.
Value for Money
Euro Hostel Glasgow offers exceptional value for money, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers. With affordable room rates, convenient amenities, and a prime location, guests can enjoy all that Glasgow has to offer without breaking the bank. While some may find the accommodation to be basic compared to more upscale options, the cost-effectiveness of Euro Hostel’s offerings more than compensates for any minor shortcomings. I paid less than $20 for a bed in a dorm and less than $40 for a private double room during low season.
Drawbacks
Despite its many strengths, Euro Hostel Glasgow is not without its drawbacks. One of my complaints is the thin walls, leading to disruptions from noisy neighbors or late-night arrivals. While this issue is not really a problem for me, it can take away from the overall quality of sleep for some guests.
